8 Travel Apps That Are ESSENTIAL For Overseas Travel

Hey Travelers! We're well into winter here in Baltimore..

So; first things first, damn, it’s cold! 🥶

We hope you’re managing to keep nice and snug during these icy, brittle days. And if you don’t already, we highly recommend parking your vehicles out of the way of the elements.

One of our employees was 15 minutes late to work last week because that’s just how long it takes to defrost the windscreen. 😂

Not ideal at all! Although it does make for a pretty good excuse to spend an extra 15 minutes getting out of bed (if you’re already parked inside a garage, that is, but you didn’t hear that from us! 🤫).

To those of you who are heading overseas, we are incredibly jealous. May you soon be looking down upon your newly-freed toes, defrosting under a glowing warm sun. 🌞

Speaking of overseas travel, did you know that there are 307 million smartphone users in the U.S?

“But what does that have to do with overseas travel?” you may be wondering.

Travel Apps.

Yep. ☝🏻

Some of which can potentially save you hundreds of dollars when it comes to accommodation booking or make life that little bit easier when looking for restaurant recommendations.

The only problem is that there's no shortage of them, which can be a bit overwhelming if you’ve got a trip coming up.

So, instead of wasting time figuring out what's hot and what's not.

Here’s a list of our:

8 Favorite Apps For All Things Travel-related

1. HostelWorld 🏨

Perfect for all your hostel booking needs. It features a fullscreen interactive map, making it easy to work out whether the hostel you like is near where you want to be. It also includes those all-important reviews at the tap of a button.

2. SkyScanner ☁️

This is our preferred method for finding cheap flights. The app searches millions of flights from over 1200 sources before providing you with the cheapest or easiest routes. It also features a built-in chart that lets you see which days/months are the cheapest to fly to your destination.

3. Trail Wallet 💳

An all-in-one expense tracker, essential for overseas travel. There are a variety of different organization options as well as the ability to set daily budgets. It’s effortless to add an expense, and the app automatically converts currencies.

4. HotelTonight 🏢

This app is incredible. Seriously. It offers fantastic last-minute discounts on empty hotel rooms, is extremely easy to use, and has 24/7 customer support. Great for those last-minute accommodation needs.

5. TripIt ✈️

An excellent app for organizing your upcoming travel itinerary. All you need to do is forward your flight/accom bookings to the app, which will then go ahead and organize all of your trips into one master itinerary. This is a lifesaver if you travel a lot or have a stacked itinerary.

6. PackPoint 🧳

PackPoint is your all-in-one packing guide. Based on the length of your trip, activities, and destination, this app takes the stress out of packing by telling you what to bring. It even accounts for laundry facilities and considers clothes that may be worn multiple times.

7. LoungeBuddy 🛋

LoungeBuddy allows you to access premium airport lounges around the world. Based on your itinerary, the app tells you which lounges you can access based on the airports you transit through. It also allows you to purchase access to these lounges if you don’t already have it.

8. Timeshifter

Some have dubbed this app “the jet lag cure”. Timeshifter helps its users avoid jet lag long before their flight takes off and even offers inflight and post-flight suggestions. The app incorporates neuroscience by taking into account sleep and circadian rhythms and maps out when to take naps as well as when to view/avoid light.

We have one last recommendation: to make sure you grab one of our prepaid travel SIMs before you fly.

We have various data and country options that allow you to access any essential apps, including maps or translators, as soon as you step off the plane.

It also takes the stress of trying to find a SIM while in a foreign country away and lets you stay connected with loved ones during your adventures.

Oh, one last thing -
